EMBRACING FRIENDSHIP AND OPPORTUNITIES AT ABILITY WEST

My name is Joseph Faulkner and I have been with Ability West since 2000. I started in St. Joseph’s Special School and then I went to the training centre, graduating in July 2009.  To date, I’ve been attending Beechwood/Greenview Adult Day Service.

What I like most about Ability West it is the people. I like working with all my friends and doing the things that I like doing.  I’m involved in the Advocacy Council, I co-host on Live@11 and co-present a show in Firefly.  I often make my own plans and I just let staff know what I am doing.

I have made lots of friends here over the years. My best friend is John Farragher who works in Blackrock house doing super work every day. I’m in the Best Buddies progam too and I’ve made a lot of friends with that.

There are lots of activities that I like to get involved in. I like to get out and about especially walking on the prom. I love Live@11, going to different centres with the Advocacy Council, doing my Radio Show and going to a café with my friends.

My biggest wish in life is to own my own home.
