Board retirement
At the final Ability West Board Meeting of 2024, we were saddened to bid farewell to Jack King, who had previously announced his decision to step down from the Board at the end of the year.
Jack, a retired banker with expertise in finance and human resources, also served as the chair of Ability West's finance committee. He rejoined the Board in April 2023, after having previously served as a member from 2011 to 2018. Jack and his family have been strong supporters of Ability West for many years. Originally from Westport, Jack is extremely proud of his roots.
“We are deeply saddened to see Jack leave the Board, but we hope he will remain connected with Ability West,” Julie Silke Daly said during her tribute to Jack. “We wish you, Carmel, and your family all the very best for the future, and we thank you for your exceptional service to Ability West.” She also extended her gratitude to all the Board Members for their ongoing dedication and support, noting their voluntary attendance at Board Meetings and events.
While retirements were the theme of the evening, the Board also took the opportunity to recognize the departure of John McHugo, Director of Finance, who will retire at the end of December after 35 years of service. John worked closely with Board Members throughout his tenure at Ability West. On behalf of the Board, Chairperson Ray Kelly thanked John for his invaluable contributions and wished him all the best in his retirement.
The meeting also marked the retirement of Eileen Costello-Conneely, who was a regular attendee at Board meetings, providing updates on Quality and Compliance over the years.
We wish Jack, John, Eileen, and their families continued health and happiness in the years ahead.
