Meet John
From St. Joseph's to Blackrock House A Journey of Friendship and Ambition
My name is John Farragher and I have been working as a Receptionist in Ability West, Blackrock House since the 7th of April 2015.
My journey started with Ability West in 1997 when I attended St. Joseph’s special school. During my time there, I did my Junior Cert Exam in Foundation Level English.
After graduating from St Joseph’s in 2009 I attended St. Joseph’s Training Centre on a 3-year programme where I engaged in different work experiences. Following graduation from the Training Centre in July 2013 I went to Snipe Day Services where I took part in different community-based programmes.
What I like about Ability West is working in my Role as a Receptionist and meeting new people on a daily basis. I also like being part of the Best Buddies Programme in Galway University and the Citizens programme which gives me the opportunity to build up even more friendships. I have made many friends in Ability West for which I feel truly blessed.
I love to get involved and set up monthly music sessions via Ability West in Corofin Hall. I enjoy Tag Rugby in Tuam and Monivea.
One of my biggest wishes in life is to be an escort again in the Galway Rose Selection and then on to The Rose of Tralee. I would also love to set up a World Record for the Best Buddies Program and continue my work as a receptionist here in Blackrock House.
