Ability West receives the majority of revenue funding from the Health Service Executive. In 2013 this allocation was €22,271,364 which includes both general funding and also funding for Rehabilitative Training.
Additional funding was received in 2013 from the Department of Education and Department of Social Protection.
Ability West receives some capital funding from the Health Service Executive however this funding was not available between 2008 and 2012. The Department of Environment, Community and Local Government provides capital grants towards the development of new community based houses. Additionally, Ability West borrows funds from the bank for capital purposes if and when required.
Ability West has always operated a busy fundraising programme and we are very appreciative of the time and generosity of our many supporters. Fundraising money is used towards our capital programme; this includes: the purchase of or renovation of properties, the purchase of specially adapted mini buses, the purchase of essential aids, appliances and specialised equipment for service users for which we do not have other funding. No funds raised are utilised for salary purposes.
